Medieval cloister adopts design

An invitation to an exhibition takes us to Maastricht-Netherlands on a cold early spring day.  We're hungry and we decide to have lunch in a place I wanted to visit ever since it opened a few years ago.

The entrance to the gothic church already reveals we'll be surprised.

The lobby has different sitting areas in the side chapels ...

Stairs lead to a mezzanine that is divided in two parts.

The plates and table-tops copy the old paintings on the ceiling.

The light is streaming through the building from the large windows.

The gorgious leaded glass windows have nice patterns.  I can't stop watching the play of light and shadow. 

We enjoyed a nice lunch with a glass of wine.  We did not see the rooms.  But check out the site of the hotel, some of the rooms are quite unique.
